A small workshop

Escapement opened on Ratchadamri Road with one straightforward aim: to offer Bangkok watch owners a place where their pieces would be handled with knowledge and without hurry. The name refers to the escapement mechanism — the part of a movement that regulates the release of energy, tick by tick. It felt like an honest name for the kind of work we do.
The workshop focuses on three areas: diagnostic assessments for watches that have developed a fault; strap, spring bar, and clasp fitting for owners who want a fresh feel; and sympathetic restoration for vintage or inherited pieces where preserving character matters more than making something look new.
Every service begins with a conversation and a written estimate. Nothing proceeds without the owner's agreement. That structure isn't a formality — it's the foundation of how we work.

27 Ratchadamri Road, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok — a short walk from Ratchadamri BTS and within easy reach of Silom and Ploenchit.

A small team, each with their own area of focus and a shared habit of taking things seriously.
Niran Sombat
Workshop Principal
Trained in Lausanne and returned to Bangkok with a focus on vintage Swiss and Japanese movements. Oversees every assessment and all restoration decisions.
Anchalee Phetcharoen
Watchmaker — Restoration
Specialises in sympathetic work for older movements. Trained under a Chiang Mai horologist before joining the Ratchadamri workshop in 2019.
Warit Kritpracha
Client Liaison & Strap Fitting
Manages all client communications, scheduling, and strap fittings. Ensures that estimates and updates reach owners clearly and on time.

How we hold ourselves to account
Written Work Records
Every piece that passes through the workshop leaves with a written record of what was found, what was done, and which parts were fitted.
Secure Handling
Watches are stored individually, logged on arrival, and never left unattended during transit between benches. High-value pieces are kept in the workshop safe.
Calibrated Equipment
Timing machines and cleaning equipment are maintained and calibrated on a scheduled basis. Results are checked before any piece is closed and returned.
Consent Before Work
No work proceeds without a written estimate and explicit agreement from the owner. Scope changes mid-restoration are communicated immediately.
Parts Verification
Replacement parts are sourced from established suppliers and checked for suitability before fitting. Period-correct sourcing is pursued for vintage pieces.
Client Data Privacy
Contact and watch details are held only for service purposes and not shared with third parties. Records are kept in line with Thai data protection requirements.

Watch repair in a busy city can feel rushed. Components are swapped without explanation. Estimates arrive after the work is already underway. Escapement was set up specifically to offer something different — a workshop where the owner's knowledge of their own piece grows through the process, not after it.
Our three services cover the most common needs: understanding what a movement needs before committing to work; refreshing the wearing experience through a new strap or fitting; and undertaking careful, documented restoration for older or collected pieces. Each is scoped with the owner from the first conversation.
Bangkok is home to a wide range of watch collections — from everyday automatics to pieces that have been in families for decades. We work across that full range, and we bring the same deliberate approach to every one of them.
